It has been six months since the wildfires, and bright wild fire poppies (which only grow after a fire) are now sprouting up and adding some brightness to the many barren hillsides throughout the county. While those who lost homes know that there is still much work ahead, I am thankful to see how the community has come forward to provide assistance in any way to their neighbors and community at large. Official thank you letters to the many agencies that initiated drives to provide clothing, toys, and school supplies to the fire victims are forthcoming, as their contributions and collective efforts touched numerous San Diego Fire Victims. To those of you who donated your time and well-thought items we express our deepest thanks. I had hoped to provide pictures of the faces of some of the children as they received their replaced toys and backpacks, but in respect of their privacy we did not take photos. I can assure all that their gratitude was humbling.
A new office space was provided for our Fire Relief Coordinator, to facilitate her ability to organize the information and requests that come through daily, and those wishing to volunteer any time or goods, will be directed to contact the www.RBUnited.com website (Website of Project Coordinator, Valerie Brown) to see what particular needs have been expressed in confidence by Fire Families.
